These elephant were part of a large herd I met coming towards me on the road. I stopped well ahead of them expecting that they would veer off into the grass, but they just kept coming. I veered into the grass. Elephants rule.
As a nature photographer, I like to keep enough distance for safety and to not disturb the subject, and most animals will simply ignore me. This hippo was in a duel with another and was quite agitated. It was best to move on.
This cheetah was untroubled with our presence in the land cruiser. At one point, it even jumped onto the hood and surveyed its surroundings. Unfortunately, it jumped back down before I could change my lens to something that would focus more closely.
Although many people are somewhat repulsed by vultures because they feed on carrion, it's hard not to be impressed when these large birds come soaring into join a wake (a group of vultures feeding at a carcass).
